Aero flew swiftly over her lands, making the tall grasses bend and sway as she passed in a series of gusts. Echo's leader had vanished. Rangi's leader was accompanied only by a single mare. What ill luck had befallen her lands? She had rarely found the need to intervene, indeed, she was often absent on her many explorations of the world. It was difficult to get her to remain in a given place for more than a day or two... she was inconstant. Perhaps she had not given her herds and believers the attention they required... but she certainly hadn't noticed any increase in the amount of time her siblings spent guarding their lands.
The goddess of the winds found Rangi's stallion and became tangible before him. "Why here alone?" she asked him, voice surprisingly gentle for her adventurous and bold personality.

Idle curiosity brought his attention towards the wind, a constant motion which blew gently through ebony ribbons as he stood gazing across the emerald sea of his domain. They were always calm, those rippling waves of green. Never did they seem to upset, even when the wind peaked and rushed across them like a train gone off the track. They extended in those gentle waves for some time, gradually melting off to something else in the distance. He couldn't tell what exactly they ended in, though, and when one stood just right they extended all the way to the horizon itself. He found himself lulled into a quiet kind of stupor when he stared out across them, the soft rustlings of the stalks around him blending with the melodious trickling of the wind itself, which wove constantly across this place. The wind was suddenly different, though, gusting towards the black stallion powerfully. His carefully fluted auds swiveled around, the daze he'd been in moments before wearing off as his attention was drawn towards the phenomenon.
Wells of mocha color narrowed as he stepped back, ribbons swaying about his onyx hued form. Muscular serpentine arched, flutes swiveling, as he swayed uneasily, then suddenly relaxed as the form of Aero made itself out of the displaced wind. He knew her, although it was only a vague remembrance of her features and her power over the breeze. It was she who had given him this land, she who ruled over them all. His finely chiseled skull lowered in polite greeting, gaze remaining fixed upon her form. Yes, he was curious as to why she might be visiting him now. As she spoke, though, he began to realize.
"Alone, m'lady? Not quite. There is another who resides here, although I realize one can hardly be called a herd. There are too many who have fire in their heart, instead of air. I would not attempt to force them under my rule."
Shifting uneasily, the black watched Aero carefully, his gaze probing and yet hesitant. He wasn't quite sure how she might have wanted him to answer, and so gave that which came easily. It was true, there were few he might think of bringing into his lands, besides the lady he resided with now. Perhaps it was a kind of arrogance that kept him with only one other. True, he had come to fetch Beaded, but some other stag had stolen her, leaving him back with one again. If he had been strongly attracted towards he, he supposed he could have offered a challenge, but he really wasn't... There was that other from November's herd, though... She seemed somewhat promising. If he had not been here, perhaps he would be speaking with her... Then again, perhaps it was simply because he had no wish for too large a harem. More than one would be nice, yes, but then it came to the reason that there were few who seemed they would be willing to go with him. Argo had no need for restless souls within his borders.
As he mulled over these thoughts, the stallion's alert posture had begun to relax. Auds were no longer held pricked, but relaxed towards the sides of his head, loosely leaning in Aero's direction. His tail waved lazily every now and then at suckers, but for the most part he remained almost lazily still, regarding the elemental before him with mild curiosity. He had no reason to be on guard around her; she did not sem threatening. No, she had seemed almost peaceful as she spoke. Argo almost found himself wondering if things went on outside his lands, to cause her to come here. Perhaps it was only the absence of wind equines, though... He did not know how many resided in the other lands, but felt their numbers probably surpassed two.

Aero released a sigh. Yes, he was right. There were few that revelled in the power of wind at all... that was why she must take it upon herself to attempt finding more followers. It appeared that simply allowing them to come to her wasn't working. Echo was without a herd, and Rangi with only two inhabitants. The stallion seemed fairly content though. Aero sighed, toying with her winds idly. She wasn't at all good at carrying on a meaningful conversation with her subjects. In fact, she was often reluctant to interact with them at all. "Surely you wish for the company of another mare or two? I do not intend to imply that you should attempt to fill these vast lands... quite the opposite. It would be better if some sort of a harem were here, though. You should seek another. I was exploring the area not at all long ago and I spotted a young lone bay that seemed as though she might desire to follow the wind. Of course, I am not at all sure if she could meet your standards... you could try..."ooc: Cut me some slack... I'm really stressed out about my homework currently. Blech.

((No worries. ^-^)) My standards? The thought brought forth a deep chuckle as the stag turned it over, realizing finally how arrogant he sounded. Dark head was lowered, eyes glinting cheerfully as he turned but one towards Aero, the other gazing out towards his vast domain. Perhaps he ought to lighten up, it wasn't as if everyone he met would come off as wonderful. He seemed to be forgetting that, as the years passed. Best to remember before he became intolerable. Emitting a snort from the depths of nasals, he shook himself, dust rising in a fine cloud off his ebon coat.
"Never did I wish to come off as arrogant, but I realize now that I do. Forgive me, I seem to be forgetting myself..."
He cast her a wry sort of smile, now completely at ease around the elemental. She was just another horse, after all. True, she had power he could never hope to match, but she wasn't distant, hard to understand. No, somewhere inside we all have likenesses, sometimes we just seem to forget them as the days slip by. Argo had been doing just that, and found himself suddenly glad that it had been brought to his attention, if a little embarassed. He decided to see this mare Aero spoke of silently, seeing no need to describe his thoughts to her. Quietly, the black shook his regal skull, letting rebellious strands of his forelock fall into his eyes. It lent him an unkempt, almost awkward sort of look, strange for he who usually tried to be so upright and polite. He felt that some other statement was indeed required, though, and dipped his head, turning towards her fully once more, before he let the smooth rumblings of speech leave his barrel.
"Of course I will try, m'lady. It is not out of slothfulness that I remain here."
Nodding, he raised his poll, letting the runaway strands fall behind his ears where they belonged. A deep sigh found its way from his chest, content for the moment. He could see himself trekking towards the hills again quite easily, and meeting a new someone to bring to his little family. What had he been thinking? Wasn't it his reason for being here, to find peace and a family? Of course, but we all forget once in a while. The embarassment was wearing off, leaving only a desire to be doing. His gaze turned towards the distance as his voice trailed away, tail rising lazily to slap at flies settled on his flanks. Movement was always good, he needed to remember that about all things. "You did not come off as arrogant," Aero assured the ebony stallion. She shifted, having grown tired of standing in a single place for so long. It was time that she departed. "I simply wish to help you in any way that I might. Think of it this way, when I said that I wasn't sure that the particular mare would meet your standards, I meant my own. I have no wish for an air-headed femme to reside in my lands. One such as that could bring harm to the residing herd." A strong wind blew back her mane, and she relished in its power... her own creation. "If you'll excuse me, I'll be going now," she said even as her form began to loose its solidity. She was gone in a moment, with no sign that she had ever been.
