Quiet laughter resounded in Book's ears, ever the lovely reminder of all that had occurred in the past two years of her life. She didn't dwell on it though, because that was a childish thing to do. Some would have sworn revenge, others would have at least angsted. But the short blue roan had no time for either of those things. She claimed to be over it all and walked away, leaving an entire herd in confusion. She had friends there, lots of others her age, and even older ones had respected her a little. She didn't respect herself at all, that much was obvious. Book did not even trust herself to stay there, the place of her birth. From that we get here, which is where she is now.
She stood at a high point in the land, a nifty little rise that provided a decent view. Granted, the entire place was full of hills, but this was better than the others. With her dull brown eyes she summarized it all, the hills and valleys in between, the scattered trees everywhere. It wasn't interesting, but she couldn't complain about it. Apparently it was a claiming ground, and apparently a stallion would show and invite her to his lovely lands. That was the order of things, and Book wasn't a revolutionary.
She moved down the hill, short legs caught in that churning movement called cantering. Her black mane flapped on her neck, and her tail swished out, a banner to signal her less than graceful arrival. Far from it, in fact, her motions were clumsy and jolting. Bits of dirt and rock were unearthed with every stead thrum of hooves. She had no real clue of where she was going. She assumed the stallions just flounced right up and made themselves known, but perhaps she was required to go hunting for one. A less than appealing prospect, but better than simply standing there in the sun all day.

One two three, one two three. Thump thump thump. Ever notice the awesome sound whenever you canter? Yeah, Sept was noticing that now. He was looking at the ground, where his fast moving legs where churning at it, flinging up bits of dust and dirt. He was watching at his hooves moved in sync. That was so interesting, he barely realized where he was. Sept looked up, finally, to see that he was in the claiming grounds and that there was a cantering mare intersecting his path. Oh crap. It was too late to stop and too early to turn. They were going to collide. He was closer. Closer. CLOSER. Sept fought to turn, to stop, to warn this mare of his coming. He just screamed, but it was carried away by the wind. And then. He turned, at the right moment. Sept looked back, trying to stop. He slid across the ground, kicking up more dust and dirt. He finally stopped, after much sliding. He got up, shaking himself. His white coat was splotched with a tan color, making him look like a paint. Sept sneezed, dust flitering into his nostrils. He looked at Book, curious. He walked a bit, staggering a little. Er. She was still running. Get out of the way. He jumped to the side, watching her wide-eyed. Wuh-oh.

Book covered plenty of ground in a short time, despite the disadvantage of short legs. Eyes focused ahead, she didn't notice the oncoming stallion any more then he noticed her. That was, not until he was nearly upon her. Surprised, she bolted forward quicker than before. Her legs were in control now, her brain was somewhere in the backseat. She just missed crashing into the poor guy, rushing past him with wide eyes. She dug her hooves into the ground like claws, slamming on the breaks. Even more dust and dirt rose and danced, covering her as well. She shook her head, sneezing, and barely managed to right herself. A look of bewilderment said it all. Um.. Hello.

Er. Sept blinked, just plain staring. Hi. He slouched over, tail swinging side to side. He smiled sheepishly, shaking his head. I'm Sept. He said, looking kind of blank. He didn't really know what much else to say. Er. He blinked, at a loss of words. Well, I mean really. What else could say? It was polite to remain quiet until the other spoke, but that just seemed to take forever. Time just dragged on. And on. And on. And on. Etcetera, etcetera.
[argh. no inspiration. O.o]

She faced him, staring straight back. It was awkward, to say the least. Mirroring his smile, she spoke quietly. I'm Book.. And that was that. She frowned and waited for him to say something else, but there didn't seem to be any chance of that. She shuffled around under his gaze and waited some more. Finally, she decided to take matters into her own hands.. hooves. Are you a lead stallion? Yup, just up and blurted it out like that. She closed her eyes in exasperation, feeling foolish for herself. Way to make a first impression.. Although that was pretty much ruined from the start.
[hehe. me neither.. just rollin' wif it.]

Sept nodded. Indeed I am. He gave a mock bow, as if proud of his title. Which he was, but it wasn't anything special. Ooh. Lord of Astarte, how amazing. He smiled at Book. Such an odd meeting they had, almost running into each other. She seemed like a nice mare. He already had a good crop by now. Flyte and Altair, good mares. Book would fit in nicely. Or so he hoped. Uh. You must be looking for a home, that much is obvious. He blinked, feeling lost in thoughts. I live in Astarte with two other mares, perhaps you'd like to join us..? He waited for either a yes or no. Whatever, he would take it as it comes.

She smiled, amused by his antics. He was an interesting one. She anticipated what came next, the question. She nodded slowly. I'd like that, thank you. She stretched slightly, grinning. Lead the way.

Sept nodded, his head bowed a bit. Alright. Herd count, three. He pranced off a ways, looking back at Book, smiling. This way. Oh, and just to warn you, Book, He smiled even broader. I'd watch out where you step in Astarte. He turned around fully, beginning to trot. His head bowed, neck craning as he pulled himself into a buck. It was a happy buck, nothing threatening or anything. Then, with a final glance back to Book, he began to canter towards the Water region, where, hopefully, Flyte and Altair were waiting patiently for his return.

She trotted after him, stopping as he spoke. She frowned, wondering what that was about. There wasn't any point in asking, she'd know for herself eventually. She broke into a canter and moved after him.
[happy?]
