when you live
Beaded laughed for the ump-teenth time, watching Prongs enjoy himself along the hills that she had been in once before. The paint colt galloped over to her as she began to walk away, skidding, and falling. Beaded shook her head in wonder, remembering how she had found him in the most unlikeliest of places. DON'T EAT THAT. Beaded scolded, nudging Prongs away from a prickly flower. The colt nickered, butting her in the chest. Beaded frowned, looking around. Well. Hopefully, someone will find us. She murmured, watching him warily as he pranced near a rosebush. This colt was such a pain.. And yet, such a lovely thing to have. No birthing. And yet.. She had no milk to feed him. But he lived. He had a great interest in the grass. It was like he had been weaned already. Beaded pondered on that for a moment before walking after him.
PRONGS. NO. She yelled as the colt investigated a snake hole. He looked up, a stupid expression on his face. Beaded smirked. Prongs pranced up to her, nickering happily. It's been a long day. Beaded yawned, walking over to a hill. She plopped herself down and yawned again. Prongs looked inquisitive, following her. But he wasn't tired. He made a face, pouting. Play. He whined, butting her in the ribs. Beaded ignored him, laying her head down in the tender grass. Play. Prongs protested, butting her harder. Hold your tongue. Beaded snapped, looking quite annoyed. Just have patience. Rest and I'll play with you. Prongs settled down beside her, though reluctant to do so. And they rested.

Soft footsteps brought him through the rolling grasses, banner trailing behind. Blades of yellow and emerald caught at the black ribbons, snagging them for an instant before the stallion pulled them away again with an irritated snapping of the tail. The rest of ebon tresses danced upon his thick neck, glinting cobalt in the sun. Harks were pricked, expression curious as those listeners caught the sounds of conversation some way off. Gait shifted to a light jog, powerful yet graceful form sliding forth smoothly. The rhythmic beat of his hooves soon fell away, though, as he first noticed them, and his great crown fell downwards in a respectful nod. Blinking mocha eyes, he shook strands of black forelock from his eyes and watched them quietly, eyes gleaming softly in the sunlight. Speech finally slipped from his ashen maw, lyrics kind and friendly.
"I am Argo, from the air land Rangi. I come in search of others that might wish to live within my territory. Tell me, what are your names?"
Eyes traveled slowly over the crimson form of the mare, gaze curious and yet not overly so. He still carried his friendly expression, never one to pry too far. Now gaze turned towards the colt, a fond light playing through his eyes. It was a long while since he'd seen a young one, and this... brought back fond memories. The ghost of a whicker exited his maw, sounding only through the empty air around him, before he fell silent, watching as the breeze played black ribbons around his regal face and boa, whole form gleaming in the sun. Steelspring muscles were defined easily beneath the sheeny black of his pelt, rippling with every movement, as black ribbons teased out around him, like drapes blown into disturbance near an open window. He waited patiently enough for her answer, as he always did. Never was he one to act rashly, but to think things over. He was not hesitant, though, just a bit more level headed than all those fiery young colts who sought to claim as many as they could. That was never good... Argo settled himself with watching Prongs for the moment, wondering how such a pair as mother and foal could come to be alone, and thinking that no good could ever be behind it.

you learn
Prongs head, which had been resting peacefully by Beaded's, snapped up at the sound of someone else. A stallion. Instinctively, like a lead stallion himself, he got up quickly and bared his little teeth at the intruder. Beaded's eyes fluttered open, nickering softly to make sure the colt was okay, before noticing Argo. She blinked at him for a moment then remembered her manners. Oh. Oh, yes. Sorry. She yawned, getting to her feet and nudging Prongs' tensed body. It eased up and he fell back to cringe behind his mother. I'm Beaded. And that, She nodded over to the colt. That's Prongs. Beaded tossed her head uneasily. Though this stallion was kind, she was afraid of being left behind just as Zodiac had done. But her desperation for a herd and home was too much and she would cling to whoever welcomed her in the first place. I need a place to stay... She murmured. The colt does too. He needs a father. Beaded blinked at Argo, shifting her weight. Prongs became brave once more, walking straight up to the black stallion, head tilted in curiosity. The mare watched him protectively, trust in Argo was not great yet and he could prove a threat to the young one. The colt's slender painted body began to move again and found himself walking around Argo for no reason. Finished, Prongs went back to his substitute mother with a dumb expression. Beaded smiled then as she looked at him. She turned back to Argo. I'll come with you. She murmured with a firm tone, nodding. Prongs gave a nicker of agreement, bobbing his head in an imitation of his mother.

Auds swiveled, following the movements of both horses, while his eyes remained on the little one, amusement playing through them as some attempt at a threatening expression was given. Snorting, the black shook his own dial, letting ebon tresses fall about his face in no particular order.
"Prongs and Beaded... Nice names."
He gave a more orderly nod of his regal head after the statement, tassle flicking behind him as dying grasses caught it once more. A glance towards his own territory had dial rotating around, harks flicking away from the two strangers and towards that which he was more acquainted with. They seemed nice enough, though. Actually, he thought they appeared quite lonely, and determined it would be best they got somewhere safe quickly enough. He turned back towards them long enough to add a second statement, tones rich and bell like.
"Good. Well then, I hope you will find them to your liking. I will lead you there."
Pistons kicked into motion beneath him, bringing ebonite bod forward, hide shimmering as steel coils rippled beneath it. Tresses swayed lightly in the breeze as he started off, pace a snappy walk. The rhythmic drumming of irons beat a nice melody into the tranquil air.
