They walked in quiet, both wrapped within their thoughts. It gave Altair time to become accustomed to the thought that Sept would be leaving her soon... but every time the thought struck her, it seemed to pierce deeper into her soul. How much longer until she grew numb to the pain?
Finally, she forcefully shook the uncomfortable thoughts away. She looked up at the canopy... staring for a moment at the laced branches. The soft leaves had unfurled almost completely now. Each of them looked like a bit of glass in an endless extent of stained glass. Gaia had done well.
Altair came back to the present and tossed her head up, springing forward and nipping Sept's haunches lightly. She circled in front of him, hooves flying in an intricate flurry as she danced mischeviously about him... waiting to dodge any returning nips he might attempt to give. Her neck was arched, and her mane bounced with her gait, shifting like curtains of the deepest black. It was time that they were free.

Sept followed silently, enjoying the sweet smell of spring in the sparse forest. The ground was moist and damp from a recent april shower, droplets falling from the emerald leaves above. It was hard to factor how long he would be gone from this beautiful place. But Altair made him forget that as she nipped him, awakening him from his sleep walk. He grinned playfully, watching her with an amusing expression. Sept approached her with head low, dancing one step forward, two steps back. He nickered softly, still grinning. He reached forward to gently nip her on the back, running up to join her. Laughing, Sept felt joy course through his veins. It was his last times with Altair and he would have it to the end.

Altair leapt lightly over a small log, giving much more clearance than was required at all. She cantered a few stides before whirling to face Sept again, revolving about him ceaslessly. It was good to have some fun. They needed these childish games every now and again. Eventually the petite Arabian tired of their game though. She slowed to a halt and placed her head over Sept's back, taking a huge sigh, and releasing with it the last bits of tension that had yet clung to her conscious.
Sept, she said after a moment. I want to talk. I want to talk about our future. Altair was quiet for a moment, trying to judge how best to say what it was she felt must be said. You mentioned having a foal... I want a little one as well, but we can't go rushing into something like this without thought. Will you be here when the herd needs you most?

Sept slowed as he neared the log, watching her as she jumped over it. Show-off. He teased, sticking out his tongue and following her constantly moving bay body with his dark eyes. He closed his eyes as they touched again, and he reached over to nudge her neck lovingly. I can only try my best. He murmured, taking a few steps back to look into her eyes. But you've got to trust me on this Altair.. I'd never abandon you or Flyte. But I can't abandon my blood family.. You both need me.. Sept sighed. This was such a hard thing to figure out. To talk out.. It made him wonder. What should he be doing? What should he say? But who goes first? He asked himself, shutting his eyes to blank out the world around.

I trust you. The words were spoken softly, but with incredible meaning and sincerity. I trust you with my life... with the life that we may soon begin. Again she was silent for a long time, before hesitantly speaking again. I don't suppose... that -that we might be able to come with you... Altair was almost ashamed that she'd said it. She did not want to put more pressure on him than he was already burdened with, but she would miss him so much. The foal would be a promise though. She knew that he would never abandon her with the care of his child, even if he could not be there right when it was birthed.

Sept shook his head, sighing. No.. Altair, I don't want to risk bringing you. He thought about it though.. Perhaps it would be good for his father to see how happy he was with his love, in his home. Never say good bye, because good bye means going away and going away means forgetting... He could never, ever forget his times here. But that is a risk I am willing to take.. I shall bring you and Flyte with me and August to Year.. We can ask Hydro to put Astarte under his protection while we are gone. Sept mused, smiling. Yes, everything seemed like it would work. He closed his eyes, bowing his head pensively. But what about the foal? He questioned eagerly, the thought of a young one too much to bear. He had never been a father yet and it was exciting to picture a little image of himself or Altair frolicking about Astarte.

Altair’s spirits began to rise instantly as she listened quietly to Sept’s decision-making process. She didn’t care what he said. In her opinion, she would safer with him than anywhere else or with anyone else. We owe quite a few debts to the immortals, but they are kind beings for all of their gruff attitude. I do hope that Hydro will not mind guarding his land in your name. The Arabian pranced in place, given yet another burst of energy by the simple thought of not having to loose her stallion at all. No. She would be with him. They would go to a new land. It would be an adventure. She loved seeing new things, meeting new horses and exploring. If you’re ready for a little one, I am. Altair announced with enthusiasm. I have indeed desired a foal to charm our lives.
occ: Yucky short post *sticks out tongue at post*. Oh well. You can start a new thread in the Breeding Grounds if you like.
