Altair danced into the Breeding Grounds. Her muscles were tense as she looked around her nervously for Sept. She calmed herself; Altair was mainly very easy-going. The thought of a foal.. hers and Sept's was enlightening. This was only the beggining.. the beggining of a new life. Altair gave a quiet whinny for Sept, and there was some excitement woven in the tone. He would be here soon, he had been right behind her when she left the Sparse Forest.

With each step, Sept's heart pounded in his ears. His nerves were racking and they were strung. It would be the first time he had ever bred with a mare. As he slinked around the bend of a tree fortress, he caught sight of two happy lovers, a chestnut and a black, entwined together. It just made his stomach squirm though. Just that one thought. The scent of Vivian Le Mar lingered here. That made him mad. But the final and most reassuring scent ever floated into his nostrils. Altair's. Sept heard nothing but his heart beating in a steady rhythm. Exhaling, he approached her, head low, steps soft and determined. Her whinny broke the drum beats and he just seemed to drown in his own love for her. Hey. He called, trotting over in excitement. He nudged her playfully, grinning. She just made things feel so much better than they truly were. You ready? He questioned, concern layered in his tone. The green background contrasted to his light coat, like a painting. Sept looked up at the sky, which was bright and alive with wildlife. Birds constantly flew around them, chirping in high little voices, chasing each other in a neverending game of tag. He pictured a small white foal frolicking in Astarte's waters. Beside it, a proud mother of bay hue. And beside her, a pleased father of white. They made the perfect family. The mother stood beside him, ready to make that picture happen. He loved her so much. And now, they were going to make it all the more better.
[it's okay. mine ish museful.. somewhat. =D]

Altair drew in a deep breath, trying to prepare herself for the unknown. She took up the most natural stance and closed her eyes for a moment for saying, I'm ready when you are, love. It was the first time she'd used a different title from his name, and it felt odd on her tongue. But she wanted him to know that she did love him. She had avoided saying it for so long, telling herself that he must already know, but now she wanted to make it absolutely clear, without any questions lingering over them. It was time. It was time for a new beginning.

Sept bit his lip. He had no idea what he should do next. Okay.. If I hurt you.. That's because I have no idea what the heck I'm doing. He grinned and butted her neck with his forehead, going to her hind end. He didn't know what to do now. Just let instinct do the talking. Tensing his back legs, Sept reared up slowly, trying to find the best way to do this. Settling most of his weight atop her hind quarters, he brushed his muzzle against her back and frowned. Is this okay? He muttered, shifting around. It felt so wrong. But something was right. Saying nothing, he just let himself go. It was simple... Once the job had been fulfilled, Sept wondered how he would get off. Uhm.. He moved around, squirming and sliding off of her back. Okay. There. And it was done.
[yech. i don't like breeding.]

ooc: Me neither... they're quite... uncomfortable...
It was a strange feeling. So much weight upon her petite form was entirely uncomfortable, but there were some elements that were oddly... interesting. There was no way of explaining the sensation, and her mind shied away from the subject with embarassment. When Sept had dismounted, she turned to face him, touching his neck with her muzzle. You did not hurt me, she assured, though the slightest tremor could be detected in her voice. Altair felt both hot and cold at the same time, if such a thing was at all possible. Would she know if she had concieved or not? Her gut still felt strange in remembrance of the even stranger experience, but she tried to dismiss it. When do we leave for your homeland?

Sept bobbed his head. At least it's over with, yes? He nudged her back in gratitude. They would have a foal in the coming seasons. Looking around, he felt himself just drain of all emotion. Home. To Year? He shook his head. As soon as we meet up with August. Where was she anyway? Sept smiled wearily. But for now, let's head back to where we truly belong.. Astarte. He turned to sheild his love from a strong wind, which rustled the soft leaves of the trees and brush, tangling his mane and tail. Let's go. He looked longingly towards the direction of home and then at the beautiful mare beside him. Ready ... my love?

Yes, Altair agreed contentedly. I'd very much like to go home. She smiled with appreciation as Sept moved to shield her from the wind. Every move he made seemed to be made in consideration of herself, and for that she felt fortunate indeed... but she wanted to do something in return. She felt bad letting him do all these things for her, doting on her. But she reminded herself that she was indeed doing something very big for the both of them. She was carrying their future, and though she could not feel it now, she knew that the effects would soon show in the most subtle ways. They walked slowly for a while before she became bored of the pace. Nickering, she picked up the speed to a long, flowing canter with a soothing rocking rythym. It was a pace that was perfect for travel, swift, but not too exerting. Altair expected to be using such a gait much of the time that they spent travelling to year.
These thoughts led to new ones that she had not yet considered. Presumably, Sept's time in Year would not be all that short. By the time they might be able to depart, she would be too heavy with foal to safely travel. If all of this were the case, she'd be forced to remain in the foriegn lands until she had given birth and allowed the little one enough time to be strong enough for a long journey. She hoped that Sept's family liked her alright, otherwise she'd have a very trying time.
