Gaia gestured with her head towards a small bouquet of various herbs and flowers that had sprouted just a few yards away. Eat those, she instructed gently. They may not taste all that great, but they will help with inflammation and prevent infection... as well as dull the pain. She inspected the blood dripping slowly from the dappled grey’s nostril, trying to determine if it were from an internal injury or not. If it did, this could be a greater threat to his life than anything else. Fortunately, she discovered that he had simply acquired a mere scratch on the thin membrane. It would heal without assistance.
Next, she turned her attention to his leg. It was a vicious gash indeed, but it seemed that the time he had spent in the stream had washed away any grime and slowed the swelling. This will hurt a little, the goddess warned, but it should be over quickly and it will protect the wound. I suggest that you take a nice big bite and try to relax as much as possible. Five slender vines sprung forth from the soft earth and wrapped themselves around the stallion’s leg. It took a few moments, but eventually the vines had woven themselves into a protective sheath of green around his leg and detached themselves from the ground. There, she said with satisfaction. You’ll need to soak it in the water for an hour in the morning and in the evenings. This will keep the swelling down and the vines alive. You’ll find a fresh bushel of herbs here in the mornings. It is mandatory that you eat all of them, no matter how distasteful you find some of them. If you remain true to these orders, you will be recovered in a week.
Gaia turned to the mare. Try to keep yourself warmer, darling. It is not in your blood to survive in these conditions. Do not hesitate to find warmth beside you herd mates. In fact, I strongly suggest that you sleep together every night, at least until spring. You are prone to fall victim to the cold as well, Altair. The dark bay moved away from the other two, pausing to wake the young bay that had so valiantly sought her assistance. She whispered a few final words of advice to the mare One of the herbs that your lord has eaten will make him quite drowsy indeed. Keep an eye on him, and don’t let him forego eating his herbs or soaking his leg, no matter how great he may tell you that he feels. With a wink, the earth spirit vanished, but her essence lingered a moment longer. You have shown much love and responsibility for your herd, dear Altair, Gaia said, her voice audible to all. Your herd mates are fortunate indeed to have you here. I will come to you when I have thought of how you may repay me.

He looked over to where she had pointed and nodded, looking at her as she tended to his leg. Sept shuddered as the vines wound themselves around his leg, it was so different. He winced as the greens tenderly moved across the gash before settling there in a moveable cast. He tested the leg carefully, making sure he could still bend it and put a little weight on it. He nodded finally, wondering what a proper thanking would be for the goddess. He watched her go, then realized something. Good things don't come without a price. She had stopped by Altair, telling her the deal. Sept smiled. Yes, they were indeed lucky to have Altair. He walked over slowly, limping, to the medicine he had been perscripted to. The flowers were vibrant colors with patterns, looking poisonous to the eye. The herbs were just the same. If it had been someone else who had given him these, Sept would not have trusted them. But Gaia was a helpful spirit and he knew he could trust her. He closed his eyes and reached out to the closest flower and bit down. UGH. It was the most disgusting thing he had ever tasted, the juices flowed to the back of his throat and he swallowed with great difficulty. He took another, opening his eyes to see which flower he had already eaten and which one he was about to eat. The pain in his leg was beginning to stop slowly with the more herbs and flowers he ate. Gaia had said that would happen.. Great. After a few moments, the medicine was gone and Sept was panting. It was just so... ew. He limped over to the lake, drinking from the hole Altair had made for his leg. He looked up at the white sky, where snow threatened to fly once Gaia had gone.

ooc: oh. Ok, this is gonna be weird seeing as though theres nothing wrong with Flyte and she hasn't a clue whats going on. Sleeping. Flytes bay form had been sheltered from the cold as she'd rested. Having chosen not to follow Sept and Altair when they'd journeyed from Astarte she'd taken the opportunity to sleep, content, calm and as safe as it was possible to be when alone and relaxed. Having had plenty of time to herself, without any sign which indicated the return of the couple she got to her feet, blinking quickly and shaking to wake herself before wandering towards the point where they'd left. Auds moved freely, gaze sweeping the land stretching out before her, all her actions lazy, they'd be back soon if they weren't already...Turning her dial quickly her auds plastered themselves to her cranium, a sound issued by another, a distressed sound caught her attention, forcing her into action. Shaking her head she took on the fastest pace she could manage on the treacherous ground, her auds having now risen, swiveling in an attempt to catch further sound. She searched a while but found none, heard nothing more. Bringing herself to a halt she closed her eyes, the sound must have been made by Altair or Sept, which meant they were in trouble, and she couldn't find them. She'd blindly headed out, and gone in the wrong direction. Cursing herself she stayed a moment longer, hoping for some other sound.. a scent. Finding nothing she turned, heading the opposite way. After a short time, which seemed to stretch hours a collection of diverse scents met her, plants.. equine. Now having something to follow she picked up the pace, her hooves weren't well suited to the icy ground but she managed, driven by feelings she hadn't known she possessed. She was cold, extremely cold but in energy she wasn't lacking, and so persisted. Eventually her pace slowed, confusion flooding her mind at the sight of green rather than the endless white blanket, and a bay equine, Altair. There was another, grazing who she could only presume had been claimed while she'd slept. Unsure, she headed towards Altair, raising her dial to see now the shape of Sept, with a leg of green. Green? Backing up slightly she snorted, shaking her dial, she didn't understand. Something bad had happened, that much was obvious, and she hadn't been around to help. Her, full of energy and mentally strong, hadn't been around. Forcing her limbs forwards she mumbled something vague about her own uselessness and looked again around her, whatever had happened aid had been given, that much she could tell. She wanted to do something, something to pay them all back but only managed to let a few words slide from her maw, remaining still where she stood. Sept? Altair?

[-giggles at flyte- you've missed too much darling.]
Sept looked up at the sound of such a familiar voice. Flyte. He smiled brightly, standing tall, well not as tall because he was afraid of injuring his leg further. Flyte. You've missed a lot.. He laughed, limping over to greet her. He nudged her affectionately, glad she was unharmed and in good condition. Unlike the other three of them. Um, for one.. Sept bit his lip, wondering how to say it. Altair's the lead of Astarte now. He grinned, looking over at her. I think she deserves it.

Sept blinked and watched Vivian go. Wait, where are you going? He snorted, tossing his head. Where was she going? It was still winter, the hardest part of it. Spring was around the corner.. Vivian, stop! He yelled, trying to run after her. He couldn't catch up. Where the heck was she going to go? Not too far away, he wouldn't be able to catch her.

ooc: I know. Typical She relaxed a little as Sept responded, finding a smile crept onto her own mug at his laughing. The tense muscles beneath her pelt loosened at the nudge she was given, a dumb nod in return. Continuing to listen her dial raised a little at the news that Altair was lead, the smile brightening a little. She was genuinely pleased, she liked the other mare and knew there were reasons why she deserved to be lead, perhaps reasons which differed greatly from the ones Sept was referring to. Sept and Altair had always been close, she'd known that since the moment she set foot in Astarte. Thats..great. Falling silent again she turned her head at the sound of hoof beats, her expression one of plain confusion. She shrugged and turned again to Sept. I guess I'll find out the rest soon enough. Your leg, Altair.. her? She shook her head, flicking it in the direction of the other mare then lowered it. She couldn't expect to learn it all at once, he'd said she'd missed a lot. She took a few steps backwards as Sept headed after the other mare, now baffled completely and simply watched, clueless. What was she doing, should she go after her?

ooc: For me it's laundry. xp
Altair watched Vivian gallop off, and questioned Where are you going, Vivian? She did not like it when a mare took off without telling her whereabouts, it reminded her too much of Book. Altair galloped up to Vivian and caught up. Sept needed his leg to rest, and galloping was certainly not resting. She groaned with the effort slightly, she was very stiff and sore from the hard gallop yesterday to the Misted Valley and back, and each step seemed to launch pain through her muscles. She was not wounded like Sept, just needed rest was all. As the whole herd needed. One simple word. Rest. It was easy enough. She halted beside the mare and whinnied for her to do the same. It was odd, yesterday she had acted near death and was now bursting with energy, hence the gallop.
After Gaia's visit Astarte seemed ready for spring. It would be here soon, the waterfalls looked about to burst into life, and all sorts of plants were starting to poke through the ground. It was not quite here yet, but would be soon.
