Vivian was gone, and what a relief it was. The mare was a pest to Astarte, as the bloodsucking flies that flew around the horses. Altair smiled wryly at Flyte's disbelief. Yes... it was a bit of a thick-headed action.
She stood to the side as Sept and August spoke, bored greatly. She yawned and shook herself and started to graze. Altair lifted her head at the sudden exclamation from Sept, something upset him. She would ask about it soon when she got the chance and try to get an answer out of him. Altair resumed her quiet grazing only to lift her head again at the thud of cantering hooves. She gave up on the grazing; she was not very hungry in the first place. She was curious as to where they were going. Sept's leg had only just healed, she was not exactly sure it was ready for fast cantering. But that would give it some exercise, and it should actually be good for it. And he did seem a bit tired of her nagging him about it. Deciding she did not feel like being left behind, she gave a whinny and snort, building into as fast a canter as was safe in Astarte, avoiding weak spots, pools of water, and waterfalls. Altair had gotten a lot faster than when she had first come here, as she had grown accustomed to the dangerous footing and was able to risk more.

Sept slid to a stop, nearly tumbling over himself in the quickness. He looked behind at Altair, smiling plainly. Sorry. He looked back to where August had gone. But she was long gone. He had two days. Two effing days until he left for home.. It didn't seem like such a long time, did it? And in that time, he needed to ask Altair to have a foal with him. But just how would he do that? He couldn't just say it.. He needed to slip it into a conversation, casually. But how? Sept looked on at the endless ground, deeply in thought. Altair? I need to ask you something...

Altair halted abrubtly, nearly losing her balance and crashing into Sept. She had just gained a fast speed and it was hard to slow immediately. Luckily she had avoided all means of collision. His leg seemed to be healed, she noticed. In what would usually take months had healed in a week. Altair knew it was Gaia's intervenence that had healed Sept's leg so quickly. Yes Sept? She had answered sort of belatedly, her mind was on other things. The thought of a foal lightening Astarte in it's frolick entered her mind, but she scolded herself to pay attention. But she soon found her gaze drifting over to a nearby waterfall, and could not help but think of how the perfect white of the foam reminded her of Sept's coat. Altair blinked and tried to seriously focus on Sept, as he looked as he had something important to say... she could only hope it was good news, not bad news that would hang over Astarte like a dark cloud.
ooc: Bad post. Sorry it took so long and it is kind of short, I couldn't think of much to say for this post.

He smiled at her, wondering how to say it. She was just standing there, so pretty and innocent. First he had to tell her about his trip... Then ask her? Maybe that would work. Um. Okay. I gotta tell you first... I'll be gone for a few days, maybe a week or two. He bit his lip, wishing he didn't have to tell her. I'm going with August to go back home for important business. I'm really sorry... But before then. Pause. Would have a foal with me? Bang.

Altair blinked, shock had her. Sept... gone? I believe it is my right to know what this important business is? Surely there is nothing more important than your home and herd? Sept, this is your home. This is your herd and family. She demanded in a strained voice. She had almost added love along with 'Surely there is nothing more important than your home and herd', but it would sound like she was stuck up. She found herself now focusing now that he got it out of him. But then he asked if she would like to have a foal with him. Her heart screamed yes, but her mind was unsure. Sept, nothing would please me more than to have a foal play about in Astarte, but you must promise you will return, and soon. If I am in foal while you are gone I will find it more difficult to protect myself, also I do not wish to raise a foal alone, it would deserve more. Not to mention that she did not want him to be gone for anything.

Sept frowned, shutting his eyes. I know.. I'm sorry.. I'm sorry. He whimpered, not liked being talked to like that. It brought back too many memories. I.. I.. Altair.. He whined like a small child. But this place was my home. It was my family.. Was.. I guess this is wrong. But I can't abandon my promise Altair. I promised... I have to go back. He sighed, looking at her. August was sent here by my dad and he needs me to go back there. Important stuff. Like who's gonna rule Year when he dies.. Since my brother disappeared. And I just need to go back there.. I would never ever stay there because I'd miss you way too much. I promise you Altair.. I'll be back as soon as all this sh*t is cleared up and everything is settled... I promise. Sept frown deepened and he waited for the punishment to come.

Sept, you made a promise to me when you said you loved me. You made a promise to Flyte and me when you claimed us. You made a promise to Astarte when you claimed it. After she had said those words Altair felt guilt enter her feelings, perhaps she was just being selfish. But part of her did not think of it as being selfish, she felt more that she was stating the truth straight from her heart. Altair did not like to give up to easily, but if she kept arguing it would only damage them more. In a weary tone she said Very well then. I shall interfere no more. I am sorry. Perhaps it was hurt that spurred these foreign feelings, of selfishly wanting Sept to always be with her. But as he said it should be a short period of time. She trusted him. Finding that she could not look at him for the moment, she was having too strong emotions, she turned and watched the horizon.

Sept blinked, listening silently. Okay.. I forgive you.. I would rather stay here with you and Flyte.. But I have to go. Not now though.. He smiled at her innocently, thankful that this was over with. What now? Where would they go? What would they do? What? He kicked at the ground helplessly, unsure of what to say or do at that moment. Perhaps silence was the best thing for now.
[short.. but oh well. it gets the point. xP]

Altair drew in a deep breath and released it shakily. She turned back towards Sept, reaching out to touch his shoulder softly. It was upsetting that he would be leaving her, but she wanted to spend every last moment she had left with him. No longer would she allow her dissapointment to taint her emotions. There was precious little time, and she wanted every one of them to be as sweet as was possible. She stepped closer, nibbling gently on his withers.
Sept... let's... let's go for a walk. The mahogany mare really had no clue where they would go exactly, but she wanted to move... and thoughts of a foal lingered still in the corners of her mind. Altair would love to carry on the lines of Astarte, but she was also frightened slightly by the thoughts. If she agreed, this foal would be her first. Never before had she known the feeling of carrying a little one to term, and she realized that it woud quite new... and a little disconcerting. He must be here for me, she thought within the confines of her heart. I cannot face something so imposing as foaling with no one by my side... it is so unknown to me...
Would Sept be able... or willing to return in time to be there when the foal was born? He'd have at least ten months... assuming that everything ran smoothly.

He shivered as she touched him gently and he reached out to nudge her gently on the shoulder. He laid his head on her withers, sighing contentedly. But when she suddenly spoke, he seemed almost startled. S-sure. He stammered, shaking himself awake. He stepped back some, giving her room. Sept dared not give her eye contact, too afraid to. He was nervous around her again, the awkwardness of love seeping back into his heart and mind. Where to? He questioned, confused. There really wasn't many places to go.

I don't know, Altair said lightly. Let's just explore. She tentatively took the lead, glancing back to see if he would follow. They were becoming more and more akward around eachother, and it was beginning to frustrate her. She wanted to shatter this glass wall of shame and uncertainty that seemed to keep them distanced from one another. What could it take? Just a little truth... and courage.
The mare stopped briefly and waited until he was alongside her before continuing on.
ooc: Continued in 'Breaking Through' (I know, lame title, but I'm not so great with them)
