Sept was gone. This distressed August very greatly, because she wanted to leave. She had been hanging around Astarte for a while now, but she hadn't left in case her cousin would worry about her when he found her gone. Fat chance of that happening, apparently. With a snort she passed through the same grove of trees she walked by earlier, and took a long look around. Everywhere she looked there seemed to be waterfalls tumbling over mossy rocks, or streams snaking around the trees. It was all so very loud and very boring. Swishing her tail impatiently, she searched around for someone to talk to.

Still greatly annoyed by the mare who'd now left, the one she'd chased over half of Astarte after Flyte's auds plastered themselves flat to her boa when a distant shape came in to view, an equine but clearly not Sept or Altair. Snorting she picked up a trot, ready to fire some insult at the mare but stopping herself just in time. Mistake, not Vivian. Shaking her head her auds raised themselves, flicking to a semi-forward position. Slowing up she was confused, as she'd often been of late, she didn't recognise the one before her. Another newcomer she hadn't been there to meet? It didn't matter, the mare looked impatient, bored and Flyte needed something to focus on other than how much she loathed Vivian. A lack of expression and flick of her ebony tail hinted at her irritation but otherwise she managed to control herself. She was nothing, an ignorant mare.. nothing more. I didn't even know her name. Settling herself with the thought she halted, looking over the other mare silently, dipping her dial a touch in greeting but saying nothing. She didn't introduce herself unless she couldn't avoid it, Sept had learned that when claiming her. Recently she'd managed to keep herself fairly open, when she'd been around at least, but Vivian's leaving had dragged up unwanted memories, it was too familiar. She'd chased hopelessly after another before and failed, she hadn't forgotten, the difference was, then it meant something.
Shaking her dial again she glanced lazily about her, the land of Astarte had become quite familiar to her now, the number of waterfalls and the noise they made had surprised her at first. Now she expected them, they were everywhere and she couldn't imagine the land without them. Returning her gaze to the other mare she dragged a hoof slowly and pointlessly across the earth, wondering vaguely about the whereabouts of Sept and Altair.. they were elsewhere, apparently. Visiting? She asked. The mare seemed so.. uninterested it led her to believe she wasn't a herd member, but who else would she be?

Dark eyes settled on the mare, a bay, like the one she met earlier. This one was prettier though, apparently. She frowned and flicked her ears up, not returning the simple nod of greeting. Just how many mares did Sept have, anyway? She supposed he had attracted quite a few. That Altair seemed to be his mate, though. What was this one.. A friend, or a jealous little witch? August smiled crookedly, shaking her chestnut mane. Perhaps she'd be fun to talk to. With a curt nod, she replied. You could say that. Around them waterfalls spilled into the pools, and she settled her gaze on that for a moment, watching the cool water bubble. Her head made a snappy motion as she returned to keep her head level with the mare's. And you are? She had yet to give her own name of course, but that was all part of her lack of charm and social graces. She had not been especially well brought up, unlike her cousin November. What had happened to him, anyway? He'd left Year long before she had. With a soft snort, she eyed the bay and waited for a response.

Altair spotted the two other mares, and trotted up to them. She was in no rush. She nodded to Flyte and August. Altair was still puzzled over the relationship between August and September, but figured it wasn't necessarily her business and she would not die if she didn't know either. She wondered briefly where Sept had disappeared off to. He could take care of himself. She would worry only when he was gone for a long period of time. Hi Flyte, August. She said to both of them. She turned to August. Enjoying your stay at Astarte? Altair asked. Every now and then she thought of Vivian with disgust, but for the most part had forgotten the mare as petty as she was.
Spring had its grip on Astarte. The waterfalls had begun to resume their steady pounding, and more plants seemed to appear each time Altair looked. The grass was lush at this time of year, and easy grazing was everywhere. Bored, she stared at the horizon as if to see something, but then dragged it back to the two mares before her.

Sept found himself home again, realizing how much his leg was now aching, how much his nose throbbed. How much he missed Altair. It was weird, to love someone. He shook his head, limping along. Spring was in its full-fledge. Birds swooped down, playing with strands of his wind-blown mane. Sept merely smiled and shook them away, thinking of pleasant things. The thought of those two fire ones made his anger flare up like flames and he wanted to kick out. How dare they talk to him like that. But all the bad thoughts drifted away as the three dark blurs came into focus and Altair, Flyte, and his cousin stood in front of him. August! He cried out first, in surprise. She had stayed this long? As he approached them, Sept reached out to nudge Altair, but quickly redid the action and stopped near her side. Ever since he had said those three words, he had felt odd being around her. He could never call her his friend again, she was his lead and mate now. But it just didn't seem possible. He looked at Flyte fondly, tilting his head to the side. Then he dropped his gaze on August. I met up with the nastiest little creatures at the claiming hills. He shuddered dramatically, smirking. I'm surprised you're still here Aug, you haven't been known to stick around so long. Especially around me. Sept looked over at Altair, flushed (sort of), and redirected his eyes to the ground and his hooves, inspecting the stripe pattern on their hard surface. I see you've met Flyte here. He gestured toward the bay mare and nodded. So... He finally looked up and dared himself to look at Altair once more. It didn't last long. Sept was seen looking at his hooves. Again.
[story of this post and sept's feelings toward altair:
just recently, my guy friend asked me out. i said yes. today, the first true day we went out, i felt so weird talking to him and looking at him. that's how sept feels, because altair had always been his friend and now they are sort of mates. that's that. n.n]

August gave her head a quick turn towards Altair, and she responded with a nod. It's a decent place. She yawned, out of weariness, not boredom. It was an all right place, just not somewhere she would want to live permanently. Her gaze and mind were wandering now, as she looked over the branches of trees, a stream, and Sept. Her ears shot up at the sound of her name, and she looked at him, curious. Shaking her mane again, she smiled. What can I say? You're fun to hang around. She remembered the old days, when they always played together. She turned her gaze to Flyte now, nodding at Sept's comment. Flyte, hm? Nice name. I'm August, in case you couldn't tell. Sept's cousin. She nudged the stallion playfully, a grin on her face. She was in a good mood now, for some reason. She gazed at Sept for a moment, and frowned. He was acting.. oddly. Shy, even. That wasn't really like him. August pawed at the ground restlessly. Right about now she'd like to be doing something other than standing.. But at the same time she was tired. So much for plans.

ooc: Yes, she does. She's pretty useless, really. lol.
And then they all started arriving, she was spared the introductions by the arrival of Altair, who spoke both their names. She remained quiet, due to the fact the question Altair spoke wasn't directed at her, and suddenly took interest in the land underfoot, looking at it and snorting. Next came Sept. Flyte couldn't hide a small smile, for once she wasn't the last to arrive.
Continuing to listen one aud remained trained on Sept, the other flicking back momentarily in response to another noise, a bird. As her name was spoken yet again she turned her attention back to Sept, him being the one speaking, and her smile grew a little more, his expression when he looked at Altair was hard to miss. Shaking her head she allowed the smile to linger, her gaze moving onto August. So Sept and August knew each other, that much was obvious from the way they communicated. The next comment answered any questions which were forming. They were cousins.. August and Sept..September. Pleased she understood now she took her turn at speaking, realising she'd probably sounded ignorant for not acknowledging Altair's greeting or Sept's words. Ah, his cousin. So you are visiting? Nice. Ok, not the most interesting or polite of statements, in fact she was merely stating the obvious. Never mind. Dragging the same hoof as before across the ground she looked up, turning her attention back to Altair and Sept, thoughts of Vivian forgotten, but leaving her irritable- hence the pointless speech. She needed to do something, become entirely absorbed in something else.

Altair was innocently oblivious to Sept's inability to look at her. Hi Sept. She said absent mindedly. She glanced at his injured leg, spotting the slight swelling. Concerned, she said You need to soak your leg, it's swelling. Have you been eating your herbs? she asked suspiciously. I believe that one of them was meant to keep down swelling like that. Altair broke into a warm smile, she was happy to see him again, and she certainly didn't wish to come across as too demanding and stern. This brought her mind back to the debt she owed Gaia... she shook the thought away. She never liked to owe a debt to someone.
Things were more awkward around Sept. There was more than friendship, but was she ready to call it love? It seemed so carelessly said for such a strong and confusing emotion. But she knew that beneath all the other bonds there would always be the same friendship. It would always be there... it just might be hard to see at times.

Sept shifted his eyes suspiciously. Yes... He sneezed, shaking his head. They were most disgusting. But, fine. Like a small child, Sept hobbled away reluctantly to the lake. The waterfalls rumbled constantly, never a dull moment. There was no ice anywhere, except a floe here and there (which were melting quickly). He dropped his head slowly, sipping the crisp and pure water. Then, in went his leg. There was this little tingling sensation as he adjusted to the cold temperature of the liquid, but it soon went numb and felt better. Hey. He called over to Altair as he shifted about on the ground, getting into a nice little position. If this is gonna work.. You know, the whole mate-like thing. Sept swallowed and blinked twice. Could you not act so mother-like? He felt himself blurting out, again another blurt, and began to laugh. No offense. I mean, hell, my mother didn't even act like that. In their eyes, I was nothing. The constricting feeling on his heart loosened slightly. I- And he stopped there, scratching his nose on his leg. A momentary feeling of pain and the cut on his nose was bleeding again. He had just rubbed off the scab. Crimson blood dropped to the ground, some drops falling on his legs. Oops. Sept grinned and dipped his muzzle into the water. He shivered, bringing it out of that coldness and facing Altair. Sorry 'bout that.. But- Another stop. Sept felt his heart chain up once more and he averted his gaze to the sky.
[psh. flyte, you are really needed here. and sorry for that horrid ending. xP]

Altair grinned at him. Nope. I didn't gallop all the way to the Misted Valley and back for nothing. She said stubbornly. She saw his nose was bleeding again, but he had taken care of it. Some may say she was acting a bit motherly, but in this case, it was needed. They weren't quite mates yet, but that was a whole different matter Altair wasn't sure she wanted to think about right now. And it made her feel more reassured that he would be fine. She thought over what to do now. Flyte and August were restless, and wished to get moving, but Altair was not sure they should leave Sept behind. For the moment, she lingered, waiting for someone else to take action.
ooc: Alright, I'll be quiet and let August and Flyte post.
